About Tap In MKE
Safe Summer Sites Milwaukee is a collaborative effort led by Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services, the City of Milwaukee Department of Community Wellness and Safety, Milwaukee Public Schools, Children’s Wisconsin, the Medical College of Wisconsin Comprehensive Injury Center, VR PHAST, the Greater Milwaukee Urban League, Safe & Sound, INPOWER, and a network of community organizations working together to create safe, structured, and engaging opportunities for young people ages 12 to 20.
The initiative is designed to reduce youth exposure to violence, strengthen community safety, and increase access to positive opportunities during the summer months. Through trusted adults, recreation, mentorship, workforce development, arts, sports, food, family engagement, and supportive services, Safe Summer Sites provides welcoming spaces where young people can build relationships, develop skills, and stay connected to their communities.
Operating throughout the summer in neighborhoods across Milwaukee, Safe Summer Sites reflects a shared commitment from public agencies, schools, healthcare institutions, violence prevention partners, and community organizations to promote safety, belonging, well being, and opportunity for Milwaukee’s young people and families.
